A solo exhibition, Oct 23 – Nov 17, 2017

Mirana Zuger solo exhibition, Sivarulrasa Gallery and Embassy of CroatiaCurated by: Sanjeev Sivarulrasa

Sivarulrasa Gallery is pleased to partner with the Embassy of the Republic of Croatia to present Fuego, a solo exhibition of paintings, works on paper, and sculpture by Croatian-Canadian artist Mirana Zuger. “Fuego” is “fire” in Spanish. Mirana Zuger’s works burst with vitality, energy, and brilliant colour. At the centre of this exhibition are 15 intricate new works on paper, all completed in 2017. These 15 new works were initiated and completed by the artist during a transformative period in her life, with the birth of her first child. “In pregnancy, new channels were opened and I became more in tune with my inner physical self, responding to the exterior world from within”, she states. Measuring just 12 x 9 inches each, these smaller works are a layering of the artist’s marks and intentions on a micro scale, in contrast to the grand physical gestures that animate her large 7-foot canvases, two of which are also part of the exhibition.

Fuego will be curated and installed by Sivarulrasa Gallery at the Embassy of the Republic of Croatia, at their beautifully restored embassy building at 229 Chapel Street, Ottawa. The show will be open to the public from Oct 23 to Nov 17, 2017, Monday-Friday, 10am to 4pm, during the Embassy’s visiting hours. For visitor inquiries, please contact the Embassy at . For inquiries about the art work, please call Sivarulrasa Gallery at 613-256-8033 or email us at [email protected].

Vernissage/Opening Reception: Thursday, Oct 26, 5pm-7pm at the Embassy of the Republic of Croatia, 229 Chapel Street, Ottawa.
