Hannah Isabelle Cretien is a Montreal-based artist exploring themes in figuration and abstraction. Born in Appleton, Ontario, she began her studies in fine art at Mount Allison University in New Brunswick. “I approach each artwork as an exploration of different mediums and varied techniques”, she says. “My methodology is raw and is a manifestation of personal expression and emotional processing.”
Hannah’s abstract work is inspired in part by her personal experience of living with a destabilizing mental health condition. Working in oils, acrylics, and ink, she sketches large preliminary forms and proceeds with colour, shape, line work and intricate details. This process is repeated in multiple layers resulting in complex, highly nuanced works. The painting is complete when the artist feels she has attained a unique balance of her innate emotions. Sivarulrasa Gallery is delighted to present her first solo exhibition upcoming in 2026.
