An exhibition in Gallery III, February 9 – March 15, 2024
Artist Reception: Saturday February 10, 2pm-4pm
From February 9 to March 15, Sivarulrasa Gallery is pleased to present Jane Irwin: Talking With Vincent, a solo exhibition of new works by Toronto-based artist Jane Irwin. The works are inspired by her reading of Vincent Van Gogh’s letters to his brother Theo. “His honest voice and articulate writing reaches across the years between his time and mine”, she says. The drawings and paintings showcase views from Jane Irwin’s Toronto neighbourhood, incorporating phrases from Van Gogh’s letters as well as phrases from her own collection of letters, creating a conversation between past and present.
Jane Irwin received her BFA in drawing and painting from Mount Allison University in New Brunswick. Her work has been exhibited in Ontario and New Brunswick and she has been awarded grants from the Ontario Arts Council. Her commissioned glass installations can be found at sites in Ontario, Quebec, and New York State. She currently works from her studio in Toronto.
Artist Reception: Saturday February 10, 2pm-4pm. Artist Jane Irwin will be in attendance.
